Home for a second...

Hello dear friends! It's Sarah - I'm home for a few hours to spend some time with Ford, and then Joseph and I are heading back up to the hospital for the evening. We had a bit of a scare this morning; Luke's CO2 levels were too high, and they were talking about sending him to Montgomery, but we just got the latest test results back and they're no longer going up. Praise the Lord!!! I've been discharged, and because he is not able to breathe on his own, they were unable to keep a room for me. Apparently they can only do that if the baby can actually stay in the room as the patient. So we are taking this day by day - luckily we have lots of help for Ford thanks to my mom and sister! I just talked to our pediatrician and she said that none of what Luke is going through right now will have any long term effects, it's just an annoying hurdle to get through. Coming home without a baby is probably the hardest thing I've ever done, but Joseph and I know this is only temporary and we are extremely blessed that he's doing as well as he is. God is so good!

I thought I'd give you a glimpse at how little Luke is since it's hard to tell from the picture Joseph first posted. Here's one of Luke's diapers (size xxs-preemie) next to one of Ford's diapers (size 4). He's pretty tiny! But great things come in small packages, right? Thanks again for all your prayers; we feel very loved!

Praise the Lord that his levels are better! I am praying that he will continue to improve and be at home soon safe in your arms! I am so glad you have lots of help with Ford too. I bet it is hard to try to spend lots of time at the hospital while having another child who needs you too. I love the updates, and we are definitely praying. My mom is at the lake with me, and she wants you to know that she is praying too!

sarah, i'm praying for y'all. be strong and try to rest when you can... you need to heal in order to be there for your sweet baby. we had to leave morgan at the hospital for 10 days and it was probably the hardest thing i've ever done in my entire life. no mother ever wants to get in the car and go home empty handed. are you pumping for him? and will they be able to give it to him? can he suck yet? please let us know specifics so we can be better equipped to pray for y'all. i'm so glad your mom and shealy can handle ford. i know your relieved to know that he's with people who love him as much as you do. we're praying and please keep us posted as often as you can! you can never give us too much information... we all care and want to know!! love you!

Hey!! My name is Kim Wilson and I'm friends with April Reed. She shared your blog with me. I started a ministry last year called the Footprints Ministry. It a ministry to support and encourage families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units here in Montgomery. I know and understand exactly where you are right now. My son, John Parker was in the NICU for 10 days. I will add you to our Footprints prayer list and you will have over 250 people praying for your family and precious Luke. We will pray that the Lord will comfort and strenghten you during this difficult time. Please let me know if we can do anything. You can call or email me ANYTIME.

"I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray." Psalm 17:6
